TIME

I made this game in 3 hours to see what I can do within that time. I haven't made anything in games for a while now & ran with an idea.

Goal

You are to reach 24 hours as fast as possible while also stopping enemies from hindering your time. Managing your seconds can help you speed up time.

Features

  • A clock to keep track of time spent
  • A shop to speed up the time spent
  • Enemies to spice up gameplay
  • A solid goal

Have fun :3

Game developer notes

Intro

I had no idea what I was doing. I started a timer without any idea on where to go. Originally this was supposed to be an Idle game, but that didn't happen.

The good

  • I gotten a solid project within 3 hours
  • A solid game loop was created within that time
  • I iterated quickly
  • Some of the "bugs" became features. The window hiding enemies was something not intended but I believe it works so well that I left it in. Usually after 12 hours, the minute hand stops functioning properly but it is super good at building suspense to the 24 hour mark that I didn't turn an if to a while because of it.
  • Quick thinking allowed me to get the bulk of the game done in just 2 hours. Polish was left for the last hour, and to be honest? it shows.

The bad

  • This "single screen" isn't actually good for what I was going for. I think something like the presentation of the original Myst would have probably been a lot better with what I was going for.
  • Decoupling the clock feature from something "Main" to something "Along the side" should have been done sooner. and to be fair I did remove a large part of my original idea because it was boring. The clock should play a smaller role if this were to be a thing.

Final thoughts

This can be done a lot better & could be a lot more fun if I didn't immediately start with the idea that this would be an idle game. Maybe a puzzle or a adventure game would have been better with the clock as a side feature.
